To begin with, I'm going to tell you the reason why I'm writing. It, the reason why I'm writing, started when my friends and I bought a piece of land. We were going to build a big house on it, but something stopped us. There was already a house there.
"Why didn't the banker tell us there was a house on the hill?" Darren asked looking out the front window.
"I don't know," I said as I turned the van up the gravel drive way.
The house looked really dark and spooky. All the windows were smashed, a shutter was hanging by one hinge, and there was no front door.      "This place looks haunted," Heather said leaning on the back of the front seats.
"It's just old," Crystal replied getting unbuckled, "And there's no such thing as ghosts."
"How do you know?" Tina asked yawning.
"She doesn't know," Jake said putting his arms around Tina and yawning too.
"Shut up, Jake," Crystal yelled at him. "It’s only make believe that's all."
"Let's go check it out!" Stacey called from the back of the van.
"Let's not and say we did," Jake said putting his head on Tina's shoulder.
"Oh, c'mon," Stacey said. Then she open the back door and ran up the sidewalk to the front of the house.
"She's nuts," Darren said leaning over me to see where Stacey was going.
"No she's not," Heather replied, "She's just on a sugar high."
"That is so true," I answered trying not to laugh.
"Let's follow her," Tina said trying to free herself of Jake's arms.
"I'll go," Heather said starting to chew on her twentieth pixie stix.
"All right I'll go to," I replied, turning in my seat so I could see everyone.
"Ya'lls are goin' nuts," Jake said taking his hands off Tina.
"I'll get the flashlights," Darren said glumly.
"This'll be fun!" Heather said sliding the door open and jumping out.
"It will not," Jake yelled, "This place is way too creepy."
"You know this the first time I actually agree with Jake," Crystal replied.
"Aw, don't be scared honey," Tina said to Jake ignoring Crystal's comment.
"I'm not scared," Jake protested. "I just don't want you to get hurt."
"Aw, how sweet," I said. "Now let's go."
I got out of the van and met Darren, Crystal, and Heather in back. A few minutes later Tina and Jake joined us.
"Everyone gets a flashlight," Darren said as he open his duffel bag.
We walked up the side walk, the gravel made crunching noises under our feet.
"What took you so long?" Stacey asked, she was sitting on the steps to the porch.
"Wow!" Heather said, "This place is huge."
