One bright and sunny day my friends and I decided we'd meet in the park before going to the Savage Garden concert at the mall.
"It's so hot out here!" Stacey yelled fanning herself with her hand.
"No, it's not," Tina said fixing her halter top that kept rolling up at the end.
"Did you see Kate's car yet?" Darren asked jogging up to the bench where Stacey and Tina were sitting.
"No," Tina said, "I'm sorry we haven't,"
"She was supposed to be here at one and almost three," Darren exclaimed impatiently looking at watch and biting his bottom lip.
"There's her car now," Stacey said running up to the sidewalk.
I pulled over to the curb, turned off the engine, and leaned back in my chair. Darren pulled my door open and put his hand on my arm.
"Oh, you scared me," I said jumping in my seat.
"What took you so long?" he asked helping me out of the car.
"I'm so sorry," I said, "I had to take my nephew to preschool and I got stuck in traffic..."
"You really don't have to explain it all," Stacey said.
Everyone gave her a dirty look that seemed to say: 'Yeah right, I've been waiting here for two hours and I want to know why'.
We got to doing what we were going to do earlier. First we had to catch the end of my cousin Rocky's baseball game. Then we all piled into Darren's van to go to the mall. We dropped Rocky off at his friend Nick's house first and then we went to the mall. When we got there Darren's best friend Daniel was waiting for us. He gave a big long speech about how we should have got there on time, and that the fans in the audience were just going mad because Darren was late.
"We're on in two minutes," Daniel called into Darren's dressing room. "You girls can stay back here," he told us with a big smile.
Moments later they were performing and the crowd was going wild. All those screaming girls, I couldn't believe how Darren and Daniel could stand it. The first song they played was their first number one hit I Want You. Then they played their current hit Truly, Madly, Deeply. After that, they played a few other songs of their album including my favorite Break me, Shake me.
When the concert was over they came back stage to hang with us. Darren asked Tina what we'd been doing just sitting back here watching them.
     "Being creative," Tina replied.
